Since opening our first bakery and café in Lowertown St. Paul in 2013, followed by our Northeast Minneapolis location in 2021, The Buttered Tin has continued to grow — most recently announcing a third bakery and café opening in Plymouth in March 2026 — all while serving house-made breakfast, brunch, and lunch that celebrates simple, delicious American classics.
From golden cinnamon rolls and flaky hand pies to comfort-filled scrambles and sandwiches, everything we make starts with real butter, honest ingredients, and a whole lot of love.

Alicia Hinze
Owner & Pastry Chef
Alicia Hinze began her pastry career in 2006 after completing the Patisserie and Baking Program at Le Cordon Bleu. She honed her craft at several of the Twin Cities’ most respected bakeries and worked under Wendy Kromer, contributing editor for Martha Stewart’s Wedding Magazines. Alicia has also competed multiple times on Cupcake Wars and winning the competition.
Following her fellowship in the inaugural James Beard Foundation Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership program, Alicia was selected as a featured pastry chef for The 2018 James Beard Foundation Gala, recognizing her leadership, creativity, and impact in the culinary community.
